Thursday, September 25, 2025, 10:00 am
Enjoy a private tour of this fortified house with Gothic windows. It is the oldest inhabited building in the village with a 14th c. tower. Formerly it was the home of Andre Breton, writer, philosopher and artist who founded Surrealism. He spent every summer at the end of his life in the company of surrealist artists such as Dali and ManRay. It is now renovated and newly opened as a world class arts center which hosts the International Center of Surrealism. It reveals a visitor's journey in direct line with the thought of the poet: thematic exhibition spaces, hanging gardens, associative café, Librotech, artists' residences, and university research center. The artistic center also includes 3 other connected medieval spaces: the Rignault house, the Fourdonne room and the Lespañol house.
